Running for a Cause

My roommate decided this week to go to an informational session about the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training. I went with her. After hearing about the program, we both signed up. This means that I will once again be participating in the Walt Disney World half-marathon in 2011. This time, however, I’m not running just for me. I’m training with Team in Training and raising funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. In exchange for a commitment to raise $3,000, the Society provides the help with training, the event entry fee, the hotel accomodations, and pre- and post-race dinners and parties. Honestly, I think the fundraising is more daunting to me than the race itself. I mean, I did the half marathon this past year. I know I can do it. But raising $3,000? That’s going to be difficult. This weekend I have to compose a letter and send it out to … well, pretty much everyone I’ve ever met, in the hopes that at least some of them will be willing and able to help me out in this fundraising goal. That includes you, my dear reader. Please consider donating to the Society, by using the box on the left, or go straight to my fundraising homepage. Remember, every little bit helps.
